How We Help

A look at how we cover costs

Joe and Marie Bolland’s Helping Hands is committed to our mission: “To help amputees in Arizona obtain the prosthetics they need to live a full life.” Not all prosthetics are covered by health insurance companies. Insurance coverage can be inconsistent with some cost covered, other costs not covered and a lot in between. And if there is no insurance, the costs can be overwhelming.

Our goal is to help cover costs whether a person has insurance or does not. Here are two high level examples:

  • You or a family member are in need of a prosthetic that costs $10,000. Your insurance company will cover up to $9,000 of that cost. If your application is accepted, the Joe and Marie Bolland’s Helping Hands organization will cover the remaining $1,000.
  • You or a family member are in need of a prosthetic that costs $10,000. You do not have insurance, but have $5,000 to go towards the prosthetic. If your application is accepted, the Joe and Marie Bolland’s Helping Hands organization will cover the remaining $5,000.

Please note that the Joe and Marie Bolland’s Helping Hands organization does not pay individuals directly.  Any approved financial assistance will be paid directly to the entity; be it an insurance company or a prosthetic company.

While we would love to help everyone who needs it, keep in mind that we are simply not able to assist all individuals who apply. If this is the case, we will do our best to refer you to an organization that may be able to help.

All applications are reviewed by our Board of Directors. We make every effort to inform applicants of our decision as soon as we possibly can.
